Philosophy

Athletics and Coaching provide a stimulating environment in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my aim as an educator and coach to lead athletes toward discovering their potential in these areas and to allow soccer, the competitive context, expectations of high standards and a mindset for continuous improvement, provide the setting for this development.

At the elite club level, our games, training, and competition should inspire the pursuit of excellence and mastery, foremost. The developmental focus should not merely be on physical and technical aspects but on understanding and reading the game, playing collectively within a team concept, good decision making and application of skills. To enhance these qualities and elevate player development, emphasis will be placed on a positive possession style of play and an inquisitive challenging training environment.

I am a coach who, after spending decades on the field, still leaves each session asking how the next might be better; how to better engage, inspire, teach, perform and develop.  As my players move on, it is my hope that they come to value and appreciate these same ideals and can apply their experiences to achieve their goals in any field of their life.
