Western College Development Association

An Overview

WCDA Returns for 4th Season Entering its third season, the WCDA has published the proposed calendar for 2013-2014, and WPFC will once again participate in the program. The WCDA is a premier youth soccer program composed of thirty premier soccer clubs across the western United States. The program provides its member clubs with high-quality competition on the field and college readiness services off the field. WPFC and Crossfire are founding members of the WCDA and are the only two participating clubs in Washington state. The WCDA is a supplemental program, and as a result, WPFC teams will continue to play in the RCL and in the Washington State Championships.

A primary objective of the WCDA is to provide enhanced college readiness services for its players and families. To that end, the WCDA has partnered with Varsity Student Institute for its families in the northwest, as well as ePrep, an online, on-demand, video based SAT and ACT test prep system. The WCDA also hosts college presentation nights at its events, and college coaches from across the country have spoken on a variety of topics that are relevant to the college-bound athlete. In addition, the WCDA has created a College Advisory Board composed of coaches from Division I, II and III soccer programs who provide guidance and direction over the college readiness component of the program.

During the 2011-2012 season, the WCDA also conducted special programs such as a U18 All-Star Game and All-Academic Game at the Thanksgiving Classic, a U13-U14 identification program conducted and supervised by a USSF scout and a U17 College ID program. The WCDA also provided over $20,000 in financial assistance to participating clubs through fee reductions, hotel rebates and direct donations.
