Alumna M. Dowd

CAA Conference Player of the Week

After a pair of impressive road victories to open CAA play, the Northeastern women's soccer team (7-3-2, 2-0-0 CAA) was honored in the conference weekly awards on Monday for games played Setember 22-28. WPFC alumna/Husky sophomore Mackenzie Dowd was named the CAA Player of the Week. Dowd was impressive on both sides of the ball last week, turning in two goals, including the game-winner at William & Mary on Friday, while helping the NU defense post its eighth and ninth shutouts of the season. The Huskies' ninth shutout, which came after a 4-0 win at Elon on Sunday, broke a single-season program record and surpassed the previous best of eight clean-sheets set in both 2000 and 2006. Dowd's goal at William & Mary on Friday came in the 80th minute and gave Northeastern a 1-0 win, its first-ever road victory against the Tribe. The Gig Harbor, Washington, native then struck again on Sunday, netting the Huskies' second goal in the 48th minute against Elon.

A day after being named the CAA Player of the Week, Mackenzie Dowd was also honored once again as the Player of the Week, the website announced Tuesday. Dowd also landed a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week as a result.
