The Washington women’s soccer season is underway. While the team is led by a deep and talented senior class, the Dawgs have also added a group of talented freshmen. GoHuskies.com got a chance to speak to each of the new Huskies. Today, Sarah Schimer.

Why did you come to Washington?

Schimer: "I love the environment on campus and the fell I got from the players and coaches on my various visitis. It also runs in my family."

What do you hope to contribute this season and in your career as a Husky?

Schimer: "I hope to be encouraging to all of my teammates and to compete to not only get better, but help my teammates get better as well."

What is the greatest moment of your playing career so far?

Schimer: "At Nationals last summer, I played one of the best games of my life in the quarterfinals. We were tied 2-2 and I saved the last PK to put us in the semis."

What is your first memory of playing soccer?

Schimer: "When I was five or six years old, I scored five goals in the first game of the season. I thought I was a hot shot."

What do you do for fun?

Schimer: "I like to do crafty things like Pinterest or Do It Yourself projects when I am in the mood, but I love to play sports. I like to play basketball, volleyball, tennis as well as soccer."

Who is the most inspirational person in your life and why?

Schimer: "My dad. He didn’t come from much, but he’s turned out pretty successful. He still manages to stay humble, though."

Why did you come to Washington?

Serwold: "I grew up in a Husky home and mom is a UW alum. I always told my parents that I would play soccer for UW someday as a child."

What do you hope to contribute this season and in your career as a Husky?

Serwold: "I hope to contribute a high level of play, commitment and work ethic. I hope to compete at a high level to make me a better player, but help my team get better as well."

What is the greatest moment of your playing career so far?

Serwold: "Getting recruited to be a Husky! Woof!"

What is your first memory of playing soccer?

Serwold: "The first thing I remember is the shin guards being bigger than my legs."

What do you do for fun?

Serwold: "I like to hang out with friends and family and I like to laugh."

Who is the most inspirational person in your life and why?

Serwold: "My mom. She has worked so hard for everything that she has and is one of the most successful people. On top of all that, she is always there for me when I need her and will put everything down for anybody."
