Alumna M. Dowd

Named CAA Conference Player of the Week

After a pair of impressive road victories to open CAA play, the Northeastern women's soccer team (7-3-2, 2-0-0 CAA) was honored in the conference weekly awards on Monday for games played Setember 22-28. WPFC alumna/Husky sophomore Mackenzie Dowd was named the CAA Player of the Week. Dowd was impressive on both sides of the ball last week, turning in two goals, including the game-winner at William & Mary on Friday, while helping the NU defense post its eighth and ninth shutouts of the season. The Huskies' ninth shutout, which came after a 4-0 win at Elon on Sunday, broke a single-season program record and surpassed the previous best of eight clean-sheets set in both 2000 and 2006. Dowd's goal at William & Mary on Friday came in the 80th minute and gave Northeastern a 1-0 win, its first-ever road victory against the Tribe. The Gig Harbor, Washington, native then struck again on Sunday, netting the Huskies' second goal in the 48th minute against Elon.

A day after being named the CAA Player of the Week, Mackenzie Dowd was also honored once again as the TopDrawerSoccer.com Player of the Week, the website announced Tuesday. Dowd also landed a spot on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week as a result.
