Featured GoSeattleU.com Student-Athlete for the Week

After helping lead the Seattle University women’s soccer team to a 1-1 record on opening weekend in a pair of overtime contests, Kelly Beck (Tacoma, Wash.) has been named Featured Student-Athlete for the week of Aug. 18-24 on GoSeattleU.com. This is the first honoree for the department as well as the team for the 2014 season.

“Kelly has continued to improve tremendously as an athlete, soccer player, and leader of our team,” said head coach Julie Woodward. “She is a pretty amazing young woman and great example of the type of student-athletes we want in our program. She commits herself fully to her academics and to our team. She has done an excellent job for us this preseason both on and off the field. I am very confident she is going to have a very successful season.”

Over the weekend, the defender started both contests vs. Idaho and Kentucky, and played all 193 minutes in the two overtime contests.

Off the field, Beck also excels in the classroom with a 3.663 cumulative GPA as a nursing major and is involved with the Seattle U Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

In the first poll of the 2014 regular season, Seattle U ranks ninth in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women’s West Region Poll.
