All-SoCon T. Peterson

WPFC Alumnus voted All-SoCon All-Cobference Freshman Team

WPFC Alumnus Troy Peterson garnered an All-Southern Conference selection as announced by the league office this week.

"I'm very proud of each of Troy for being honored by the conference coaches," said head coach Ralph Lundy. "Although this is an individual accolades, the award represent our program and all the hard work each player puts into it."

Peterson made his presence known immediately as he exploded onto the scene as a freshman forward. He strung together a three-match goal-scoring streak in early October and ended the season with 13 points on six goals and an assist.

Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own players or for themselves in the balloting.

The 2011 men's soccer season reaches its climax this weekend as UNCG, Furman, Appalachian State and Elon descend on Boone, N.C., for the semifinals and final of the 2011 Southern Conference Men's Soccer Championship. The semifinals will be held at 4 and 6:30 p.m. Friday with the championship match Sunday at 1 p.m. from the ASU Soccer Stadium at the Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
